Summary: This project will take a scan of a contract and add a second scan of a signature to specific location, creating a new file. It will then add text corresponding to today's date to a specific location to the file.
Write a BASH script to do the following:
1) Take a named jpg image "[url removed, login to view]" and overlay a transparent png "[url removed, login to view]" on to "[url removed, login to view]" in a specific X,Y location specified either by command line variables $1 and $2 or if no variables were specified, by fixed X and Y values. The result of this merge will be a new file named "[url removed, login to view]"
2) Using the new "[url removed, login to view]" print today's date, in black type, on "[url removed, login to view]" to the X+100,Y location specified either by command line variables $1 and $2 or if no variables were specified, by fixed X+100 and Y values. This file can be named "[url removed, login to view]" or "[url removed, login to view]"
Note, there are only two variables in the BASH script, X and Y. In task #2 the date needs to be placed at position X+100.
See the attached files for sample images and the expected result.
All commands must run entirely from the command line (without a GUI, and without user interaction) in one BASH script. Optimization is not important, just working code.
To answer some recent questions, the date format should be:
Month DD, YYYY e.g.:
January 31st, 2011
March 3rd, 2011
Font is helvetica, 12pt, you can assume it is installed and available as a ttf on the system.

I've been coding BASH scripts for quite a long time. Let me write yours. Also have in mind that I may need root access to install Image library that will use the script.
