Convert 1600-line Python large-scale data import routine to C++ and speed optimize

Problem: We have a 1600-line python script that is used to import large text-based genomics data files into an sqlite database. The speed of data import is too slow to handle certain large scale datasets. Required solution: Convert the python program to a fast C++ version. Qt third-party libraries are encouraged to be used.
