We have a lot of data in lots of tables, currently in MS Access. It contains tables on customers who've bought from us before. Currently we have about 40 tables listed by product name; in the table there's then a record of who bought that product. What we want: instead of having a list of products and who has bought them, we want to create a customer record for each customer, with a list then of what they have bought. Also we want reporting - you should be able to generate reports on advertisements we have run. For example, you enter a particular advert in another table - the amount of people it was sent to, and then that cross-references another table where you fill out who responded. You can then see how many people responded etc. For queries - we should be able to extract people who have bought something in the last 12 months, 24 months etc. Or people who have bought multiple items, or who have not purchased a particular item. We have been told the best way of doing this is to setup the database so we have: mailings products customers responses Responses would be the table that links all your data so that all the other tables can contain unique data. Responses would tell you what person wanted what product and what mailing they were responding to. We already have the data, so this job would include re-formatting it so it's useable.
