Hi
I just migrated the Danish website Klaregade14 that was running on Prestashop 1.4.6.2 on Windows 2003 and migrated it to Prestashop 1.6.1.7 on Linux
I have setup TEST and QA (Quality Insurance) sites before PROD was touched.
In TEST I tested once I was satisfied, I moved it to QA so the business could do the BAU (business as usual) testing.
During the testing phase I wrote down every single step because there might be issues:
- images, is the legacy store used?
- what is the theme used? At Klaregade14 they had changed the default PrestShop template and that will be overwritten, same as with some modules where they have changed the core files.
Upgrades overwrite core files and without documentation, it will be difficult to find out what has been changed.
My steps:
- clone existing site to TEST
- make this working in the TEST environment, exact copy
- check what has been changed, make copy of default template if that has been used)
- move all images to local
- check all the modules, update these before big upgrade
- check again
- upgrade the environment
- check images, (new thumbnails)
- do all the testing
- add your specific requirement to the updated site
- test, test, test (I need Test Credit Cards, provided by the Payment Gateway provider)
- Once I am satisfied, I move it to QA
Customer TEST, TEST, TEST
If anything not good, then I fix in TEST before moving to QA
Once all OK then move to PROD
Please contact me to discuss
