You are to create a 2000-word business proposal. The proposal requires you to draw heavily on the themes presented throughout the unit and should be designed in such a way as to convince potential investors to fund the idea. You are encouraged to make this a very visual document (using appropriate images and other material) and you are required to include detail in the following areas:
Media Product or Service
The Media Product this proposal is called FitBUD. FitBUD is a find a fitness buddy app based in MELBOURNE only. The app allows you to find a fitness buddy and play your favourite activity whether it be going to the gym or playing soccer. You will also need to demonstrate that there is a clear demand for the product you are promoting.
Strategic Focus
In this section you must focus on two or more of the key themes of the unit (Digitisation, Personalisation, Mobilisation and Globalisation) and demonstrate how you will utilise this trend to create a strategic advantage for your idea. In doing so, you must demonstrate how this has worked for other players in the same or similar markets.
Proposed Market/Distribution Strategy
Here you will describe the markets in which you plan to operate. This can be done in terms of target demographics and/or geographical regions, but in both cases you will be required to explain the strategic significance of your focus. You will also be required to develop a distribution strategy that will enable you to reach the identified markets. Research demographics VERY WELL.
Revenue Generation Strategy
In this section you will outline the way you intend to generate revenue from your product or service. While you are not required to provide detailed financials, you will need to demonstrate that you have considered various models and identify the particular strengths of the one you have chosen. FitBUD is available for free but generates profits from advertisements from sports stores, clubs and personal trainers.
Primary Competition
In this section, you will provide an analysis of your major competitors, and explain how you intend to succeed against them. Identifying potential weaknesses as well as comparative strengths will the key here. As usual, evidence will be needed to support your claims. Must research similar apps and competitors really well!!
The most important thing to remember about this project is that evidence MUST be provided to support all decisions outlined in the proposal, and failure to do so will lead to a fail. Evidence can be taken from academic papers, trade journals, reputable statistics providers and specialist websites, and can also include examples of practice from similar industries or companies.
