Add a schedule feature to our dance application

We run dance competitions. Each competition may run for several days. Each competition has a schedule that may span multiple days. The schedule is composed of:
1. Various dance performances .
2. Breaks.
3. Prize giving ceremonies.
There is a list of entries that have previously been created by dancers who are coming to the competition.
This software will:
1. Create a preliminary schedule based on basic heuristics including the timing of each act and the amount of time needed to give out awards + total number of breaks.
2. Enable a scheduler (a real person) to move items up and down the schedule to better accomodate the overall flow of the event.
3. The scheduler will be able to add breaks and prize giving ceremonies as needed.
The software will use a Rails backend based on postgres and an angularjs front end.
It will run on a local server that will be situated at the actual competition, and due to the lack of decent internet, may not always be connected.
