I was provided with an application skeleton that is able to intercept incoming packets and print them to the screen. The code uses the libpcap library to receive packets and strips the outer-most layer of the protocol stack. I need to: - extend the skeleton to efficiently intercept and correctly parse the IP and TCP protocol layers. - Identify suspicious packets for 3 scenarios: Christmas tree scan, ARP Cache poisoning, Blacklisted URL

The hardest part is done. What remains is opening a TCP/IP protocol handbook and parsing the packets according to that and logging different scenarios. I have much experience in networking on lower level in UNIX and LINUX.
