Looking for instructors that would love to lecturer and mentors to our students, helping them learn to think like engineers and hone their skills in a programming discipline. You’ll teach three, 12-week semesters each year. The remaining 16 weeks you’ll only have light duties for Coding Temple, such as curriculum updates and interviewing students for future classes. Beyond those things, you’re free to work on whatever you want (such as personal projects, open source projects, And, of course, you’ll want to take some well-deserved time off. Each class will be no more than 12 students per instructor, and you will have a campus director to take care of all the non-teaching-critical parts of running a program. Outside of teaching responsibilities, you’ll be an active part of the development community in your city.
Your qualities and experience:
Self-starter who takes ownership of your role
Great communication skills, especially in distilling complex subject matter
You are comfortable leading fluid discussions. This occasionally means going off of the lecture track to give dynamic, real world examples and explore new metaphors on request.
You can emphasize, and demonstrate, the meta-skills and core concepts of professional software development. This course will not replace a CS degree, but students should be aware of CS concepts: enough to compete with those who have a CS degrees for junior-level programming positions.
You have high empathy, and patience, and are able to encourage students who are struggling.
You are able provide additional challenges to students who are excelling and provide, and encourage, open and honest communication.
You are capable of offering valuable career guidance to apprentices entering the programming field, helping promote optimal chances at success.
