Superstar Editor/Copywriter to help us with our fast growing awesome startup!
We are a small business working on getting our start-up off the ground and like all new business owners there just aren’t enough hours in the day to get it all done.
Enter you – an awesomely talented copywriter / editor with a proven track record crafting online copywriting and the ability to make words turn website visitors into customers.
Our company is in the health space, we are passionate about what we do and have expertise in our field. Working on this project will be rewarding as you’ll be helping people all over the world to make informed choices about their health by explaining difficult medical concepts in patient friendly language.
How we work with you?
Our content is niche and specific so we will rarely ask you to write anything from scratch nor will you need to spend hours researching an article. For every piece, we provide you with detailed instructions of the content for inclusion and keywords we’re targeting, then you work your awesome editing and writing skills taking copy that is probably a bit BLAH and make it engaging but educational at the same time. Often, we will give you a complete piece of content e.g website page etc. and your job will be to make it sound wonderful and keep readers on the page.
There is ongoing work which includes:
Word count (each piece)
Newsletters will use mostly content already written from blog posts with the odd additional piece of content specifically for the newsletter
e-books, guides etc.
300-500 words (this is a little harder to be specific about)
Ad hoc editing/proof-reading
e.g landing pages for adwords, social posts, website copy etc.
There are ad hoc pieces including a website page, landing page copy (adwords), social media post review etc.).
(It is hard to be more specific with this one as it might change slightly as we adapt and modify our approach. We are reasonable people so if the volume of work exceeds this original estimate we would review the agreement)
We are a people business so are looking to build meaningful relationship with the right person and have continuity in the work rather than using multiple freelancers. If this sounds like the way you like to work than great! However, if you prefer to have a more disengaged approach to your freelancing work then this might not be the right gig for you.
Your skill set?
- good SEO know-how (you won’t need to do KW research), you don’t need to be Neil Patel level SEO good but a good working knowledge of search engines and writing for both the engine and the human is mandatory
- you’ve written for the online world specifically and have sound working knowledge of digital marketing. We’re not after Pulitzer prize winning journalism here (although we’re both avid newspaper readers and love journalism!), rather engaging web copy that converts. You get landing pages, auto-responder sequences, blogs, social posts etc.
- you’re the kind of writer with a knack for taking complex information and making it easy for all to understand…power to the people, let’s eliminate elitist medical jargon together!!
- you write content that sells while not selling – I know this sounds strange but some people have a real knack for it, others telegraph punch the sale and this is not what we are after. Yes, we’re a business but ultimately, we are in health care so he writing needs sell but not in a crass “buy now” direct response circa 1995 kinda way.
