Arcade Game Hacking - QueerZone
$25-50 AUD / hour
I am currently studying Honours for Contemporary Visual Arts at The University of South Australia and I am currently seeking a programmer, specifically, sprite swapping for 2 - 3 1980s video game arcade ROMS?
My end project (Due September) is a series of arcade cabinets, wallpaper, lighting and soundscape to create an immersive installation artwork, that explores creating a counterpublic that subverts heteronormativity. The arcade games would have new sprites that transform games like Donkey Kong's narrative from a man saving a woman and falling in love, into a lesbian love story.
I have some experience with pixel painting and I am a digital painter, but programming is above my head.
Essential changes to be made:
Donkey Kong (1981)
Replace Jumpman sprite with new sprite model.
Game shortened to be two levels long (First and Last level).
Ms. Pacman.
Replace Ms. Pacman with a new sprite.
Level shortened to be two levels long.
Ghost n Goblins.
Replace heroine sprite with new sprite.
Game shortened to be two levels long (First and Last level).
Extra changes:
Games to have lower difficulties, specifically lower enemy spawning (DK & GnG)
Pacman Ghosts to be slower or dumber.
A screen to credit myself and programmer.
An extra end game screen, to allow the viewer to finish the game or keep playing level 1 and 2, but keep the same score.
A scoreboard.
Need professional, well communicating and timely programmers.
This project has a hard deadline for university moderation.
