I have been working in science funding and research management for 20 years, both for a research funder and grant recipient. I understand the peer review process from working in a funding agency and also worked to produce grant applications for academics and academic-industry partnerships. I have experience of reviewing funding criteria and crafting proposals to fulfil these criteria and be attractve to review committees. I have an interest in developing STEM skills having worked on skill development projects for students and researchers, including producing industry-academic grant applications. I am UK based but recently have been working in Tanzania working on US NIH funded projects and have been helping write grant applications to the NIH. I have looked through the draft and the program solicitation. My first question as a grant writer would be that your draft talks about STEM but the focus of the 2020 program is Engineering Technologies and Security Technologies.
