I submit here my cover letter and resume in consideration for the open graphic design position.
First off, I can honestly promise you at least one thing; You will not find a better fit for the particulars of this job. Well, certainly not on UpWork at least. Why? Well because I’m a real graphic designer, with real world design experience, who had to work incredibly hard to get to where I am today.
I would like to give you fair warning, this CV is going to be different than most you have read. No games, no salesmanship, just a real person, applying for a job that I know I am perfect for.
I was fire-hardened through many years of struggling to find work in a barren job market, especially in the creative industry. Small town, rural Ontario does not cater to me or my skills, and as a result of that I’ve gone through the ringer when it comes to getting to where I currently am. I’ve done stints in the restaurant industry, tech support, retail, and small design jobs growing to larger contracts over the years. Basically what I’m saying is that I've done almost every job you could think of, the good ones and the bad ones. These jobs were not without purpose though. I learned the art and ethic of customer service, the importance of teamwork and all of the typical desired skills of an employee. All of this for the idea that one day I would get to do the thing I actually have a passion for.
