Need someone to tune/optimize my AWS setup-Pros only!!

Hi You're friend did the right thing by bumping up the instance type but it's an overkill since you don't need that much horse power all the time. Here're the things that you'll need in order to lower your billing and to squeeze that extra juice only when needed. 1. Autoscaling configured to spin required amount of EC2 when traffic spikes 2. Elastic load balancer to distribute traffic to multiple EC2 depending upon the load each one is undergoing at that time. 3. Github repository for hosting your codebase since the site will be in a distribute environment and you'll need to deploy your code changes to all these instances when you make any. 4. A configuration management tool to handle EC2 configs. Example: Puppet, Chef or Ansible. 5. RDS to separate the DB instance from the EC2 (if you're using MySQL inside EC2) Most importantly you'll need to opt for failover as all AWS resources are ephemeral i.e. any of those can terminate without any prior notice.
