The main objective is to design a multivariable state feedback roll bite
controller to maintain a desired thickness along the length of the rolls. A roll bite consists of two rollers; an upper fixed roller and a bottom movable roller. In a typical process, the thickness of the material feeding through the roll bite can be adjusted and maintained for a given feed rate. Two DC PM servo drives are at the end of the movable roll to provide actuation vertically. In the design process different control loops are tuned to improve the performance in rotation and translation. The disturbance rejection will be investigated by introducing a sensor gain inaccuracy at finite bandwidth. Knowledge of Matlab/Control System is a must as this has to do with mechanical engineering . This will require a 3-4 page report in English so English proficiency is needed.
