MySQL JOIN query with specific column name

Need help with a MySQL JOIN query with specific column name. Two tables need to be merged into one, both are linked with an ID, values are same, but column names differ (id and ID; capitalized and non-capitalized). Tried INNER JOIN and then INSERT INTO, but didn't work.
Probably 1 hour of work.
