Job overview:
I am looking for one or more people to hire to develop database management software, targeted at non-technical working professionals.
MS Access was an improvement on traditional SQL - allowing an individual to use the Query Builder to create the joins/relationships among tables, and an easy to use tool bar to specify the type of desired query. Unfortunately, for many working professionals, MS Access remains inaccessible to them, and the power of such an application goes unused.
I believe we can do better - create a DBMS that is even simpler to use than MS Access. A tool that would require no understanding of joins/relationships, SQL, query design, etc.
As an example - conceptually, I am imagining a UI/UX that allows an individual to upload their data, type in the questions about the data they have (in plain English), code generation software that translates those questions into SQL (or equivalent language), and delivers the results of the query to the user.
This project will require a number of phases (among others):
- Initial work (with me) to fully define the scope of work
- Software development
- End user testing
Key skills:
Deeply proficient in SQL (or equivalent languages), software development, deep familiarity with popular DBMS, and an ability to explain technical ideas to a non-technical audience.
