Connect to each PC on the network to check for Serial Number

We have developed an application which will be installed via an installer application with each application having its own serial number.. what I need is a VC or VB code which will do the following : The code will read the serial number of my application which will be stored in a text file at a specific location.. then it should connect to each PC on the network to check if my software with the same serial number has been installed on another PC if so display an "License Violation Message" else continue installaion.. We have the application and the serial # generator and verificaitons codes ready I just need the code which wiil connect to the networks and check the serial number...
