I need to record information on visitors to my site through a simple script. The script needs be called from an ASP include on my ASP pages. The script should be written in Perl allowing us to track a user through the web site using cookies The finished project should include a working Perl script that records all the information as specified and an example of how the tracker is called through ASP and information on its usage. On hitting the tracking script the script should record the following information, in a text file named ‘[login to view URL]’, in the same directory. The file should use the tab-delimited formatted where each piece of data is separated by a single ‘tab’ and each request on a new line. A full list of environment variables to track will be given to the successful bidder. Process The tracker written in Perl, which shall sit on the same server as the site is called via an ASP include. When the tracker is hit it shall check to see if a cookie already exists by the name ‘wsid’. If the cookie does not exist is shall set one called ‘wsid’ with the value of a unique ID. The unique ID shall be a random number from 1 to 9 billion. The tracker should then append a new line to the ‘[login to view URL]’ file containing all the information as specified. Summary: * Check to see if the user has already been set a cookie. * If they haven’t been set a cookie - Create a new id - Set the cookie * Read in all the user data including environmental variables. * Read in the file request data * Make a list of all the HTTP headers that have not been recorded. * Send the file request & user data to the text log file
