I am launching a community website (basically a online newspaper) with news, adverts, discussion forum, directory and lastly an events diary. In my view, Joomla is well covered in most of these areas except the last one where there appears to be only two component choices, JCal Pro or JEvents. After installing and testing both of these, I have decided JCal Pro seems the better option and therefore that is the component that needs modifying.

The first modification is to have sub-categories similar to how Sobi2 works. For instance a main category might be sport but there are so many that it needs to be broken down into individual sports. People don't want to trawl through 100s of other events just to see if there is anything in the sport that interests them. (see JCal mods [url removed, login to view])

The second modification is in regard that that a venue may hold a lot of events. Therefore it would make more sense to have a locations database so people can quickly see what is happening at a particular venue. It would also make entering events easier too. I am wondering if this could be achieved by linking to an existing entry in a Sobi2 directory on the same site?

Thirdly is a bit easier than the other two and that is put a title in main area where the component resides. (see JCal mods [url removed, login to view])

The freelancer will be required to develop this on their own servers/machines as no direct access will be given to our systems. You will required to demonstrate it works correctly in accordance with my specifications above and it will need to be supplied as a zip file. It will also need to be compatible with the current JCal modules and plug-ins or alternatively you will need modify these too.

This is a Joomla [url removed, login to view] project.

Please no timewasters, dreamers or ridiculously high bids as I know the marketplace.
