Modification to 68Classifieds PHP MySQL Smarty database package

I currently use 68classifieds (a php-smarty application that manages classified ads). I use Version 4.0.9 Designer and so have access to all source code.
The package allows customers to pay for an advert to be displayed on the site ([login to view URL]) but currently doesnt send an email confirmation of a purchased advert to the customer - which I would like it to do!
## Deliverables
I require the mod to do the following
When an advert has been placed on my site (wether or not it has yet been approved)
1) If it is a free ad - email the customer email1 (thanking customer for order and giving instructions on how to place a reciprocal link on his site back to mine)
2) If it is a paid ad and the customer has selected "pay by post" - email the customer email2 (thanking customer for order, confirming order price and giving payment instructions where to send check and who to make it payable to)
3) If it is a paid ad and the customer has selected "pay by credit card" - email the cutomer email3 (thanking customer for order and informing him is ad will appear online immediately)
The wording of these 3 emails needs to be able to be edited by myself.
In summary
Whenever an ad is placed send one of 3 standard emails to the customer. Each email containg variables passed from Classifeds software.
