We are in need of a Google Gadget that we can add to the Gmail interface via the "Add Gadget by URL" lab tool. The Google Gagdet must be able to:
-Display the subject and brief summary of every message sent to a specific Google Group within the past 24 hours
-Automatically update to reflect new messages sent to the Google Group
-Allow the user to hover or click on a message summary and see the text of the entire message. HTML and attachments are not necessary but would be considered a plus.
-Allow the user to post a quick update to the Google Group from within the gadget.
-Enforce "normal" Gmail / Google Groups security: The Google Group is a private group. Only users with permission to access the group should be able to see and send messages via the gadget.
Background: our company uses Google Apps and is looking for a simple corporate news feed to replace Yammer. We intend to use Google Groups to "host" the feed. Users may receive e-mail or digest updates via Google Groups. This gadget simply provides a fast and easy way for users to interact with the news feed when in our corporate Gmail interface.
We prefer that this is developed entirely outside of our corporate Gmail account. We will install and test the final product on our Google account.
