SpamAssassin is setup and things are marked as *****SPAM***** based on filter settings.
We want the following solutions:
POSTFIX:
We've got to get rid of the obvious spam upfront, before it hits the client:
Solutions:
1) Filter using SpamAssassin on a light setting such as 10, that deposits anything returned as *****SPAM***** in a mysql database.
2) The SPAM messages saved in step 1) must be able to be viewed via a login of their email address and password. This will allow an account holder to see if their message was filtered in advance by our server. We must use the same authentification used by Postfix so we know we've got someone allowed to view this. They may then see if we've filtered their legit message as spam.
This solution is needed for two reasons. First it gets rid of spam BEFORE the client has down download it. This will reduce bandwidth needs. Second, if a customer complains of not getting a specific message, we can if needed, verify if we've filtered it.
Whatever is used here, there must be a superadmin variable that allows our admin to set 'Purge Spam Older Than' setting to stop the database from getting clogged with spam. Perhaps even a 'Purge if more than XXX Records' is important in case we get a flood of spam in a short period of time that is pre-filtered using this solution.
This purge could be run from a cron job or a button within that php file.
3) Any time a new email account is created, a folder called SPAM should be created in addition to their normal inbox, drafts, sent and trash. This will be used in the ROUNDCUBE solution below.
ROUNDCUBE:
Solutions:
1) Every RoundCube client will already have a folder called SPAM created in step 3 above. Spam that makes it past the admin postfix spam filtering will go here.
2) Any email that comes in marked *****SPAM***** should automatically be sent to that SPAM folder.
3) Any email in any account holders SPAM box that is older than 30 days old should be automatically purged. This is separate from the 30 day setting in the Postfix area.
