Admissions application status checker

Overview and Skills Drew University’s Office of Communications is in immediate need of a freelance web application developer to work full time over a two-month period, with a possibility of extension. The candidate should have experience developing web applications that utilize information from multiple databases as well as client side views of this information. Applicant should have a minimum of five years experience programming in php, javascript and related languages. This person should be able to work collaboratively as well as independently and would be expected to work on campus for 20 percent of the time during the assignment. Responsibilities Assess current web application stability and then propose and develop improvements. Work closely with the webmaster, and keep him apprised of progress regularly as well as seeking appropriate approvals. Attending meetings with the webmaster and the Office of University Technology to collaboratively improve functionality of existing code. Schedule Part 1 - Approximately 30 Hours Understand our existing status checker tool and the functions it needs to fulfill. In collaboration with the webmaster and University Technology, ensure that it’s ready and stable for the current admissions cycle. Part 2 - Approximately 40 hours Phase out the existing status checker and integrate an off-the-shelf alternative that’s more sustainable and supportable with our resources.
