I have over 10 years of experience working with MySQL in database administration and database development roles. I currently support local instances of MySQL and those running on Amazon Web Services Relational Database Service running in development, test, QA and production environments. Production and production-like databases are in excess of 1TB in size so I have an understanding of working with large databases as well as smaller ones used in QA environments. In prior DBA roles I have also been responsible for migrating on-premises MySQL instances to RDS. I would welcome the opportunity to discuss this project with you in further detail. In particular I would like to understand specs for the source database: - Database size in gigabytes - MySQL vesrion - Database storage engines utilized - Number of database schemas - Overall database design and types of data structures - Is the database purely used for cron jobs or are other applications or users accessing it? - How much downtime will be tolerated for the migration, if any? On the target database I will need to know: - Standalone instance running on EC2 or will RDS be used? - MySQL Version - Hardware specs (EC2 or RDS instance sizes) - Will high availability solutions be used?
