Convert existing site to responsive design for range of devices

You will apply responsive web design techniques to an existing site, [login to view URL], to improve its presentation and usability on a range of devices. [login to view URL] has been around for 10 years, but somehow I've never had the time to optimize it for mobile, so this is where you come in. Most pages need a pretty thorough overhaul for mobile, but areas of focus are the log in process, the site header, browsing the database, using forums, the collection interface, product and part details pages, the profile page, and modifying parts and product records. Hopefully much of this can be done through CSS, but you may also need to touch some of the javascript, or do heavy surgery on PHP templates, so make sure you are comfortable with both. [login to view URL] is behind the times when it comes to mobile, but otherwise is fairly modern, so you will need to know about: * PHP (I use my own template solution) * Typescript (all [login to view URL] javascript is written in Typescript) * Grunt (for transpiling typescript, building site assets) * SASS (for compiling CSS) I will provide code repository access to the winning bidder, and a vagrant VM configuration to get you up and running quickly. You will do your work as a normal developer would, periodically opening pull requests for me to review and merge. I am the owner and sole coder of shmax.com. The good news is that I know every single line of code in the codebase intimately and can answer any questions you have promptly and thoroughly. The bad news is that I tend to be a tough critic of pull requests. I won't be shy about sending you back to the drawing board, so it's probably better to share your progress with me often, at least in the beginning. I've attached screenshots of the major pages on the site. Note that many of them can only be accessed by a registered member. Please don't make a junk account just so you can look around; if you're interested, I have an admin account I can share with you. Contact me privately for the credentials. You'll notice I didn't include any design reference, or specs or comps of any kind. This is because I am not an expert on mobile design; I am counting on YOU to be! Please be very modern and expert in mobile UI presentation and design. I am trusting you to make the right choices. The goal is to keep the spirit of the desktop design on mobile, but vastly improve the usability. The look and feel and function of the site on the desktop should hopefully not change, but if you have suggestions please share them. I expect this to be quite a lot of work; likely several months or more of full time work for an experienced developer. Please don't bid unless you have experience in this kind of work!
