Hi, I think I can do the job with python. My approach would be: - Try to detect the number of insects using openCV or scikit-image, drawing a contour for each insect. - Crop the original image based in the centers of these contours, in order to get individual images of the insects. - Train a neural network to classify the insects. I think the hard step here is the neural network, because the individual images can not be high resolution (the training would take too long), but at the same time, they have to have enough resolution to make the classification. Let me ask some questions: - Do you have a labeled dataset of individual insects? - Do you want a web interface to load the images? Best regards, Raúl Ríos

I'm a PhD student on Machine Learning Department, specialized in computer vision and image processing algorithms. My main area of interests are: - pattern recognition (different ways of acquiring scale/rotation invariant models) - multiple objects detection and tracking by predicition (Kalman/particle filters) I've particapted in similar, both academic and commercial projects.
