Design a program to parse file name into excel

I need a program which will take my accounting data and parse it into an Excel Document the headings would be Date , Category (Then a -) , Place and Cost (Displayed in Brakcets) It would need to account for spaces in category encase for example its Dining & Entertainment or just one Word. This would also need to be applied to Place Aswell the date is formatted as ****-**-**. Can provide more information and screen shots of how files look with job
