No shortcodes are displaying on new wordpress website theme

We had a new website developed for us and after playing around with the test site for awhile we found out if we install a plugin and try to use a shortcode in the text editor (they're using Unyson drag and drop builder), nothing happens. It just shows up as plain text on the page.
