S&P500 Stock Statistics

First Mini Project: I would like to develop a PHP that would allow me to download all of the S&P stocks listed in the attached txt file. I would like a simple, one time run php script that would download all of the past year's worth of stocks for each stock ticker symbol (iterate through the txt file). I currently am downloading from Yahoo finance; however, if a better source exists (without a paid license) that will do just as fine. Second Mini Project: I'd like to have another PHP script that would calculate the following: 1daySqlTable [1stColumnCalc] A 1-day closing delta for each symbol from the sql table. This is the difference between the high and the low. [2ndColumnCalc] In the next column would be the % change (Delta) as a factor of the mean of the high and the low, like so. (high - low) ------------------------- [(high + low) / 2] Then, would it make sense to build in a column in the table for a ranking system in terms of Top 10 Deltas? What about the top percentages? The results would look something like the following: MMM, 0.77, 0.488% Does this make sense? I am going to post this on freelancer here in a bit as well.
