Shark Share Global – Shark Share is a small not-for-profit company that is building an online database for researchers to share shark tissues with each other. Users upload available tissue samples using an excel spreadsheet template downloaded from the website, which is then filled with data and uploaded onto the database. On the other side, users can log-in and search for specific tissues, and filter the results and search by a number of categories (i.e. how the tissue is preserved, location, etc). Currently, the site functionality has all been designed and is being coded (systems outlined bellow). We are working with a team of software developers who have coded the program, however we have hit a few bugs, which we are trying to work through as some product deadlines push closer. Programing – Shark Share is cloud hosted on Amazon Warehouse Services, as an EC2 instance, on an Elastic Beanstalk auto-scaling system. We are currently at the micro size but probably will not be able to stay there post deployment. The AWS instance runs PHP 5.4 and MySQL. We are running Amazon Linux 2016.03 v2.1.4 on the [login to view URL] Share is deployed through Codeigniter. We test using a WAMP hosting system. We use MySQL, working through MySQL workbench. When working locally, we are using PHP 5.6. Shark Share utilizes PHPExcel, which is a third-party custom library on CodeIgniter, and we would really like someone who is comfortable with uploads and downloads using this or similar, as this may be a part of the problems we are having. There is also a chunk of Javascript (mostly class and id handling and some front-end stuff like the help) as well as JQuery, so you would need to know those as well and how they link together. What we need – Our current software development team is new to working with PHP and Codeigniter, meaning that working through some of the bugs and finalizing the coding is proving more time consuming than anticipated. We are looking for someone to come in and work with our existing team on identifying the source of some of these errors and pointing us in the right direction. Ideally, this would involve little actual coding, and more advising and code editing. We need to find someone who is proficient with Codeigniter, PHP and MySQL. We would also like to find someone with a working knowledge of AWS web hosting, Twitter bootstrap, HTML/CSS, JQuery and Javascript.
