The Need:
Not A Chance is a documentary exploring the reasons why young Indians growing up outside of India in Western Countries continue to turn to arranged marriages or online variants of them, adapting their traditional customs to the 21st Century. Not A Chance has a website [login to view URL] with a blog discussing the various issues that arise. Not A Chance discusses the phenomenons that have arisen through the internet, such as:
+ South Asian specific dating sites
+ matrimonial websites like [login to view URL]
+ South Asian specific social networks online
+ online horoscope matching
+ personalised online matchmaking for South Asians
It explores the reasons behind the formation of these websites and their popularity. It also explains how they fit into the rubric of South Asian families, tradition and social validation, in an accessible, fun way.
The People I am Looking For:
In order to drive traffic to the blog, I am seeking:
+ blog and forum posters who would be willing to post 4 lines about the subjects covered on related websites that are written and read by South Asians around the globe.
+ bloggers who could write the main posts on my website so as to alternate with me on content production.
+ researchers who can find a variety of blogs on the subjects, they do not need to be based in India
What will win you the job:
+ originality
+ a personal voice
+ well thought out and researched opinions
+ blog post samples that are easy to digest
+ reading all previous blog posts on the website and tailoring the forum posts to the subjects covered
+ samples that are similar to the style in which the existing blog posts have been written
+ your own personal experiences, ideas and digested research shining through informal, chatty and fun posts
+ honesty in your ability to perform the job
What will see you miss out:
+ using software that collates keywords and writes articles for you
+ generic writing
+ academic tone
+ preachy tone
+ infantile style of writing
+ repetitive posts
Budget:
This is where it gets interesting. I am setting a very low minimum and a mid-size maximum as I am looking for long haul writers for this job. You would be writing for six months initially and depending on budget, this could continue for an extra year. If the revenue of the website permits it.
