I have installed fedora 6 on my machine and I would like to get my shell supporting Arabic.
I am preparing the system to work with GIS modules and mapserver to get it work with my map project that will be arabic locale.
Which mean that the database PostgreSQL and the mapserver will read the data in Arabic.
I have installed Arabic module to get PostgreSQL read arabic and it works fine.
What I do need is to get fedora in de shell read and write arabic because when the mapserver need to write the map in *.jpg or *.gif file format it has to be correct writen and also correct displayed.
I have uploaded a screenshot from a sample map and you will see that the letters are mirrored displayed and also the letters are not connected to echt other.
You will get root access to work without any limitation on a test server. After your configuration, I will repeat the same on my production machine myself based on documentation / ssh scripts etc provided by you.I should be able to follow your instructions without much of hassle. So please make good notes.
