System: Using high speed cameras capturing images from angles all over a sport pitch, feeding back to our system to build a complete 3d map of the players and their position on the pitch.
We want to build a system that can process the data from up to 20 high speed cameras in order to build a completely accurate model of the players and the pitch.
In real time it would notify the referee if there was a certain infringment, for example:
Offside: The system would see exactly when the ball left the attacking team players foot, and if his team mate was beyond the last man of the defending team.
The system would then send a radio signal to the referee within 1 second of the ball being played if the offside rule was broken.
Shortly after, the system should also send the still images of the exact moment the rule was broken, along with a 3d representation of the entire pitch and the players, referees and ball to the television production teams at the stadium.
The software will need a backend database and archiving capabilities for third party extraction and analysis.
