It's possible that "when using STARTUPINFOEX with the right LPPROC_THREAD_ATTRIBUTE_LIST to create a process, you can arbitrarily specify the parent process, provided you have the rights (i.e. it’s your process or you have debug rights)." essentially, a program can spoof the PPID of another program. I'd like an task bar resident program that spots this (when the real PPID is not the same as the one in the LPPROC_THREAD_ATTRIBUTE_LIST structure), and notifies when this happens, logs the PPID (real and false) and the new process thread, command line options etc. I've no idea how hard this is. or of its even possible. i'd rather it was in c#, however it appears only c/c++ offers access to the necessary functions etc.
