Make some modifications to existing animation - shadow, minor effects, flashing light

I want to make a 6 second animation to show off a USB powerbank product. I have the design in Solidworks and the work has been started but we had to abort the project because Solidworks was not the right tool to complete the project in. We had trouble with shadows, bending cable effects and LED shining lights.
This is what we created so far:

I need 3 changes to the animation:
1. Some soft shadows added
2. The lights need to glow a little bit
3. At the end of the sequence, the RHS cable needs to "bend" out gradually instead of just appearing
