I have done several projects like this in the past, in my portfolio you will find two models of motorcycles that I modeled and rendered. I noticed in your description you said you have several formats of the car model, I hope one is STEP or maybe IGES. These file formats work well in Solidworks 3DS max doesn't work in SW. As a Director of Mechanical Design, it is not only my job to design parts/assemblies, but also check all of the other designers drawings and be sure they are correct.
