best way to use file hosts to ditribute content

So I have access to a bunch of software and ebooks etc. which I want to deliver to certain people at certain times. go to [login to view URL] and I will be selling certain parts ar certtain times. can I just leave it on the server and use file hosts? then send the link? or do I need to down load it all?
