Our current website (a music site) uses a freely-available CSS template but there’s no CMS to manage it.
What we need is a slight redesign of the CSS template, with your suggested customizations (the template is grayscale and we prefer it to stay like that, with the only colours coming out of images, logos, album covers, etc). You are of course more than welcome to submit your own creative ideas for a completely different take on the site’s look and feel.
Also important is that a CMS is added and configured for us to handle all future updates of the site.
Our hosting is with godaddy so there’s a choice between joomla – Drupal – Mambo – Wordpress or others. It’s up to you, we just want a simple to operate CMS in order to post updates along with images, links, etc. All posts on the main page should be RSS-enabled.
Further to this we’d like to have a simple ad banner system on top of the site (eg next to our logo).
The Home page should have 2 columns:
Column A (left) – Main article with headline, date of posting, image and text. Last 5-6 articles below it also. No need for the rest of the archive to be displayed but it should be accessible for us from the CMS.
Column B (right) – audio player (already exists, but adding some customized framing around it would be nice). We would also like to add a “FEATURED RELEASE” below the music player displaying album cover and linked to the item on our e-store (already set up).
We also have some custom buttons for our myspace and reverbnation that we’d like to be displayed so these could be placed either on the bottom of our page or in Column B (again we’re open to your suggestions). They would need to be visible throughout the site.
We already have a mailing list set up (php mailing list) with a simple sign-up box on the top of the page. This we’d like to keep and it’s up to you if you want to leave it on the top or bring it to Column B.
Apart from the home page the rest of the pages are as follows (Column B remains throughout the rest of the site with the featured item showing and the mailing list sign up box in case you decide to put it there, no need for the music player to be present in the rest of the site):
Page 2 (About us) – simple About us page. Just contains some text.
Page 2a – another page similar to about us containing information about some related activities of ours (concert organising). Includes text and images, could perhaps be a sub-page of ‘About us.’
Page 3 (Artists) – page with many small photos (Artists) in alphabetical order which when clicked lead to each artist’s sub-page with photo and logo, info & links (we don’t want you to create all artist sub-pages, just the first one and we’ll do the rest)
Page 4 (Releases) – Similar page to above but without subpages. Will include pictures (100x100px) with 5-6 lines under them containing text and links
Page 5 (Contact us) – already setup and includes a custom form for question submissions. No work needed here really other than implementing the new tempalte.
Page 6 (Links) - Already set up (with categories) but perhaps a better way to manage it through the CMS so as to add a link, link description and category and have the CMS automatically insert it in the right category and in alphabetical order?
Of course you are free to offer your own suggestions and ideas.
Lastly, some SEO would be appreciated.
