To reactivate your site, please follow the steps below:
1. Scan your site to find all malicious files
We highly advise you to scan your whole site again now by clicking on the "More" > “Request Scan” button in order to see if there are any other infected files on your website apart from the ones that we have initially detected. Please keep in mind that depending on the size and number of files of your website, the process might take some time.
2. Clean up all the malicious code
OPTION 1: You can try to restore a clean version of your site or of the affected files only from a backup using our Backup Tool.
OPTION 2: If you would like to get professional assistance with the cleanup of your site, you can order malware cleanup services via your Client Area > Help Desk > Other > Website Security or by clicking the ”Request Cleanup” button below.
OPTION 3: If you are looking to clean up the malicious code yourself, check the “How to clean my files from malicious code?” article for some useful tips and advice. Please note that some of the infected files may have their read, write and execute permissions revoked. In order for you to be able to clean or delete these files, you will need to restore their read, write and execute permissions. Check our “Files and Folders Permissions” tutorial on how to do that via the Site Tools of your website.
IMPORTANT: You may need to Whitelist the IP that will be used for a clean up. As your site is currently suspended, you can request to have an IP whitelisted from the "More" > “Whitelist IP” button.
3. Scan your site again to confirm it is clean
Once you believe your website is clean, you can request a new scan by clicking on the "More" > “Request Scan" button. If no malicious files are found, your web service will be reactivated and this case will be automatically closed and the web access to your site will be restored. Please note that as file scanning is resource intensive, you may do up to three scans per day only, so please request the check only when you are sure your site is clean.
4. Take actions to avoid future infection
Even if you are able to clean up your site now, it is important that you take additional actions to improve its security, as otherwise it may be easily reinfected. We recommend the following actions:
• Make sure you use the latest version of WordPress, or other site applications.
• Make sure you use only up-to-date plugins, downloaded from official sources.
• Update all your passwords with new strong ones (WordPress admins/users, SiteGround account, FTP accounts, etc.)
• Make sure your local computer is not infected. Always make sure to have updated antivirus software and scan your computer for viruses regularly.
5. Using Site Scanner service is highly recommended
