The team design brief was to design a surgical injection device for the manufacturer's bone graft paste.

Market research, cost analysis and supplier sourcing was conducted to allow for an iterative design process and development of multiple prototypes. Experimental analysis of bone paste mechanics and testing of prototypes resulted in a production ready product, designed to relevant sterility standards for surgical applications.

My team presented our literature review, experimental findings and design iterations in a 30 page technical report. 3D modelling, FEA analysis and technical drawings were produces also.

A formal business presentation was given to a representative of the manufacturer.

Design Consultancy for Medical Bone Graft Manufacture

I conducted an individual research project on optimising the design of Electromyographic (muscle) sensors used by amputees to control robotic prosthetics. This project lasted 9 months.

I conducted an in depth literature review, performed a number of experiments on the sensors over 2 months and then presented my findings and design recommendations in a 40 page technical document to the manufacturers.

I worked as a Design Engineer for a multinational, industry leader in delivering systems, products and services for the subsea oil and gas market. In this role I designed new machines and tools for a highly corrosive and high-pressure environment and are designed to survive a 20-year lifespan. I provided technical support to the Leeds manufacturing site, managed a 6 Sigma project, produced engineering calculations, CAD models and technical drawings to be sent to Brazil and India offices.
