I am a self-motivated, organized and focused writer with a print journalism diploma, an Honours BA in English, and a BA in psychology.
My experience writing for university, college and local newspapers in Canada has allowed me to develop solid skills in research, copy editing and reporting. I am a diligent researcher and a meticulous proofreader.
Since 2000, 237 of my articles, (including stories covering crime, real estate, politics, business, science and technology, and Aboriginal affairs), and 247 of my photos, have been published in newspapers and magazines in the Bay of Quinte region of southern Ontario, in Ottawa, in northern Manitoba, and in England. That includes 153 stories and articles in the Thompson Citizen and Nickel Belt News, 62 of which were feature stories over 1,000 words.
I have a lot of experience identifying, locating and analysing information quickly and accurately from libraries, databases, microfilms, periodical indexes and online resources. I know how to use behavioural measurements, sampling methods, statistics and data analysis.
I am an excellent proofreader and critical reader. I know the Canadian Press Stylebook, the MLA Handbook and the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association (APA).
