At the University of Nottingham, I designed, constructed and tested a modular High Power Density SiC Matrix converter. Each of the modules had a volume of ~2l and a power rating of 17kW. Six power modules were designed to be conneted together to power a flywheel energy storage device rated at 100kW

I was asked to build six pollution monitors to be installed in a chicken shed based on the oBeMS platform . These monitors used a number of different sensors (gas and particulate) connected to rasberry pi. The data was uploaded to a central server via wifi for analysys at the end of the project.

I was required to design a new Motor Drive to be added to the 4QD product lineup.

The Motor Drive was rated at 25kW peak, 16kW continuous (100V, 250A) in the same footprint of their existing 7.2kW product.

The motor drive used an advanced microcontroller platform, based on an ARM M0 microcontroller, with a high performance control system and protection features.

I Developed a high power density (10kW/L) wide band gap (SiC) direct matrix converter, designed for testing high speed machines. Also as part of a ten person multi-disciplinary team, I helped develop a high power density (3kW/L), wide band gap (SiC) power inverter designed to interface a photovoltaic array to the national grid.
