This project was something that really caught my eye at the outset - A book about a failed computer project for Freelancer buyer @phildram - because I was immediately reminded of The Mythical Man Month, Fred Brooks' essay on his own failures leading IBM's OS/360 project. It also brought to mind the UK's Yellow Pages Sales Ltd's failure to develop the Yell online platform, and Olan Mills Inc's UK wing failure to recognise the need to move to digital and embrace modern marketing in portrait studio photography.

It was a complex project requiring an understanding of modern computer systems programming and I had the pleasure of writing a story, along with all the backstories of the main characters, as a novel-based-on-fact, but relocated to a different country and at a slightly different time, and then to do it in US English idiom and semantics rather than my native UK English. The sample here is one of the back stories.

Ghostwriting for Freelancer client

Part of a series of articles over two projects for the Australian travel publisher Backpackers Weekly. The brief on this occasion required eight articles added to a previous order for six articles.

Not one photo but six, thanks to the incredible post-production of a guy called Kimipoi in the Philippines on freelancer.com.

Clothes all from Prom Dreams, and use of my original image of the north cloister at Lancing College Chapel by kind permission of the headmaster and the chaplain.

Credit also to Photoshop artist Mohammed Rokibul in Bangladesh, again a freelancer.com member, who removed reflections from the door and window in the background, and also a temporary beam, cabling and water piping, plus two piles of builders' debris in use for renovation work on the chapel.

Publicity photos for Prom Dreams UK

Complex fashion shoot originally planned for one male and one female model plus lifestyle images and packshots (white background to Amazon standards) not helped by slow communications from the client and the very late non-availability of the original male model and a COVID non-attendance problem of his replacement. Eventually shot both a late replacement male and then managed to get the original male model back for a brief reshoot.

Met the client's brief precisely and cannot understand the lower-than-normal rating the client has provided. The client has given no explanation and has since the published the photos on their website.

For Yoku Fashion (Erika M)

Working with three female models, a child model and a canine model this work was to be used on Amazon by the client. I think it is a compliment that these images are amongst the most plagiarised, copied and stolen images on Amazon in the past five years.

FASHION PHOTOSHOOT
