Need to create a complete system comprises of Android app and backend server, similar to the idea of [login to view URL] Similarly, the system is going to be used for tracking the whereabouts of things. The difference here is that i am going to use WiFi device instead of Bluetooth Low Energy. When the app launches, it will start the android Mobile HotSpot feature with a predefined SSID and password, and starts the GPS location services. It waits until a client WiFi device associates and connects to it. Then, it will send information to the backend server, consists of the MAC address of the wifi client and the current GPS location. On another screen of the app, user can see the list of MAC Address(es) available on the server. When they click on the MAC Address, a Google Map screen will pin-point the location on the map.
