Hi; Wordpress has a "nonce" mechanish to protect forms: it generates a pair of keys, one in frontend, and one in backend that is invisible on front. When the form is submitted, value pairs are checked, so the system knows this is a valid submission. Most spammers use tools like Curl to submit bogus forms, which cannot pass nonce protection..but.. If the spammers are more "motivated", they can use tools like browser automation, like Puppeteer, which requires the use of captcha, or ip blocking mechanisms.
