Contest Brief

I need someone to illustrate a children’s book. I have written a story called “The Girl Downstairs” to present to my granddaughter. I need the front cover and approximately 22 illustrations completed. Most depict 7-year-old Samantha in her bedroom or the room downstairs. A few are just of a soft toy. Samantha is not my granddaughter but the illustrations of her must be cute. Whilst not a commercial enterprise, I will offer this to a publisher once it has been complete, so it is important you don’t take any images from the internet. This would become a headache for you as Samantha will be in different poses for each illustration. She appears in most of them.
If you decide to pitch for this project, please complete two illustrations of Samantha.
1. With Samantha holding Funnybunny. Maybe wearing a little dress and pink sneakers. Who is Funnybunny? I will leave it to you to come up with a cute bunny rabbit.
2. With Samantha in her pajamas after getting a fright. She has just found the girl downstairs and heard a massive clap of thunder. Behind her we can see a window with a lightening. She is holding an exceptionally large (two thirds of her height) teddy bear. The text here is “The bear seamed to smile, and Samantha picked him up. She pulled him in close and the bear seemed to put his arms around her.
There are no suggestions for how Samantha must look but she will need to be super cute as will the toys she is holding.
The winner, as well as getting the modest prize will get a copy of the completed book.

    Thank you to EVERYONE who entered. I know many of you did heaps of work but unfortunately there can be only one winner. The work was of a great standard and I was delighted with the final results. There were numerous entries that made it to the final but I gave the decision to my granddaughter.

    These entries are excellent. I wont have any trouble awarding the prize at all. Please be aware the prize is to illustrate the book, so a cover and 22 illustrations. This will be too much for some of you for the prize of $150.00 and I understand. Just a fun project for us all.

      These pics are taken from the internet. Even though they may be free you wont be able to use them as you have to redraw the girl in different scenario's in different poses with different expressions and you wont be able to do that.

    Hi there, correct me if im wrong, but, are you offering 150$ for 22 drawings or just the book cover? To get it done properly, a full 22 illustrations you would need to multiply the prize at least by 6. please let me know if its for all or just the cover , thanks

      I agree the prize is low. It is not a commercial job, just a fun book I am making for my granddaughter. At your $35.00 per hour of course this contest is not for you, but there are folk stuck at home and it will be a hobby job for them and a book to their credit.
