Particularly with German as source language, which is know to be a very compact language, the market standard is to bill according to the number or words in the target language (English) or to use a form factor (1.25) on the source language to estimate the size of the translation. - In what format is the file delivered (e.g. text file such as Word, or a pdf)? - Does the formatting needs to be conserved while translating? Can usually be done in a text file, but is many times more difficult when a pdf is delivered. Sometimes the text needs to be 're-set' in a DTP software. - Are graphics and other figures to be translated too?
