Just need to write on weekly readings, does not have to be long but not to short [login to view URL] i just want you to read 2 reading from each week and write little bit on them like what the reading is about and also how it ties in with the kenya charity project we are doing. this is a website which examples what we are doing in Kenya so you can tie in with the readings [login to view URL] this is an example of a persons upload for week 7 readings In Billig's (2007) article of 'Unpacking what works in service-learning: Promising research-based practices to improve student outcomes', she explores eight promising service-learning practices. They are curriculum integration, reflection activities, respect for diversity, meaningful service, progress and process monitoring, duration and youth voice respectively. She explains why is every practice useful and workable in building up a good service-learning and use a concrete example to relate to every practice she mentioned. With real life example, readers can know that these practice is not to fight on the paper but these actually works when they put into the reality. The most memorable part of this reading to me is that we shouldn't always think that merely pratictioners are able to teach the participants. We should always remember that it is a two way exchanging that both parties are going to gain, to learn skills and knowledge from each other benefitically. It is an interaction that both practitioners and participants of service-learning will truly benefit. Last but not least, another mainpoint that I remember most is that we, as a practictioner, has to keep the task small and workable. We shouldn't set the target and aims too big that our effort may not appear to make any difference. We should keep in mind that our aim and objectives of any service-learning project should be not say 'small' but to be focus and workable
