Mortgage business, and I would like to create a spreadsheet that works with a calendar and will anticipate business days vs weekends and holidays. We have a 30 day closing cycle and I'd like to have a spreadsheet that anticipated the milestones a file should complete by a certain date, and then highlight that file if not completed. I have several examples of a spreadsheet but I am not certain as to if working this with excel is the best answer.

It sounds to me like this project could very easily be accomplished in excel using a variety of formulas and VBA. Furthermore, I have been writing custom VBA and utilizing complex formulas to develop systems entirely in excel ranging from report generation, to mock data develop, as well as plugins for external application such as HPQC. There are various ways I can accomplish this so if one runs into an issue I can very easily switch to a plan B without any incident to you There are some clarity issues in your description that will need to be worked out. My prospered time frame is based on working together to get a solid set of requirements up front, and a quick turnaround on any questions that arise while i am building the implementaiton.
