I have access to a shell script that I am currently using for backups in my own (as well as other client's) environments. The script leverages the AWS EC2 API Tools to take snapshots of specific EC2 EBS volumes. We will tag the volumes we'd like to be backed up. When the script is run, any volumes that have been tagged will have a snapshot performed.
